Creative Research

About me

I am an editor with 10+ years editing interdisciplinary English writing, covering academic subjects like anthropology, sociology, migration studies, political sciences, semiotics, art history, and gender studies. I work with academics and research-focused writers, fine-tuning their work to accentuate their voices and reach their desired audiences. My clients work in academia, NGOs, and in the arts and culture industry.

I hold a PhD in anthropology and sociology from SOAS University of London (2023), an MSc in social anthropology from the University of Oxford (2014), and a BA in anthropology and art history from Durham University (2013). I am a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (UK).

My process

  1. Before taking on a project, I define what work is needed and agree on a bespoke price and timeline together with you.
I invite new clients to share a 1000-word piece so I can estimate the potential workload. I edit the first 500 words for free so you can assess whether my editing style suits your needs.

  2. I ensure that I have received all the relevant information, including your publisher of choice, relevant style guides, referencing preferences, your preferences around inclusive language (if any), and your preferred software (e.g. Word, Google Docs, InCopy).

  3. I get to work and deliver the project to you on time as agreed.

  4. I offer one feedback round as part of my initial quote, though multiple are possible. Based on this, I will incorporate your ideas and concerns and offer suggestions.

A note on pricing

My pricing structure is detailed in the Terms and Conditions. That said, I operate on a sliding scale, basing my quotes on your current income, career stage, permanent vs. impermanent position, and location. Please include any information you think would be relevant when asking for a quote. I will handle your data with absolute confidentiality. Please see my Privacy Policy for more details.
